The 3rd Annual GJC Kids' Stuff GiveAway benefits NPIHN this year!

Does it seem like your kids' stuff magically accumulates and grows? Are you constantly looking for clothing that is the next size up, puzzles with a few more pieces, toys that will keep your kids interested and challenged? Then the Annual Kids’ Stuff GiveAway is for you!
Piggybacking on the well-loved Women’s Clothing GiveAway, Germantown Jewish Centre (GJC) will host this event. Come to Mt. Airy’s GJC for their Annual Kids' Stuff GiveAway on March 25th from 11 - 2. Everyone involved can benefit from this fun event in multiple ways: donate your kids' used stuff, take whatever you can use, support local families, and keep your stuff out of landfills!

What makes it even better is that this event will benefit the Interfaith Hospitality Network of Northwest Philadelphia!

Here’s how it works:

  • Drop off your gently used kids clothes, shoes, equipment, books, toys, games, strollers, portacribs etc. to Germantown Jewish Centre at 400 W. Ellet Street between Monday , March 19th and Friday, March 23rd , from 9 am – 5 pm. Or simply bring it with you on Sunday, March 25th! Please don’t bring clothing with tears or holes, or toys and equipment that is broken
  • Come back to GJC on Sunday March 25, 2012, between 11am and 2pm, with a $20 suggested donation to the Interfaith Hospitality Network of Northwest Philadelphia. (Checks are preferred, but cash is fine.)
  • Start “shopping.” Bring home as much as you like (really!) from our very large communal collection.
  • At the end of the day, all leftover stuff will be donated to Whosoever Gospel Mission in Germantown.
Volunteers are needed to make this event run well! Jobs include sorting all the donations into categories, helping “shoppers” find what they’re looking for and packing up the left over donations at the end of the event.
The three volunteer shifts that we’re looking to fill on Sunday 3/25 are: 8:30—11am, 11am—2pm, 2pm—4pm. If you are available to volunteer, or if you have any questions about the event, please contact Amy Schrager: amy.schrager@gmail.com.

"Share the Warmth" has been extended to March 31!

Family Promise/Interfaith Hospitality Network has just announced an exclusive partnership with The Company Store, a leading online retailer of bedding and home accessories, for its Buy One, Give One campaign. The Company Store will match every purchase of a comforter with a donation of a comforter to a child served by Family Promise Affiliates nationwide. They have committed to donating between 10,000 and 20,000 comforters to Affiliates throughout the campaign. Initially scheduled to run through the month of January, Buy One, Give One has been extended through the end of March! This is great news for the children we serve.

In addition, Interfaith Hospitality Network volunteers, supporters and everyone else who purchases a comforter or any other product The Company Store offers, can save 20% on the entire purchase by entering the promo code BOGO20 on The Company Store website. This is the perfect opportunity to donate a truly meaningful gift to families in need while purchasing high quality comforters at a nice discount.

Please spread the word about this Buy One, Give One initiative. Remember, every comforter sold means a brand new Company Store comforter in the hands of a homeless family this winter.  Post a link to Buy One, Give One on your Facebook and Twitter pages. Encourage all of your contacts to visit The Company Store's Buy One, Give One page to learn more about the campaign.
